You know how you’re just going to pop into Ulta quick to buy one thing that YouTube convinced you that you need and then end up grabbing a few more things even though your husband is (patiently!) waiting in the car? Here’s what happened a few days ago- I’m happy to report that it was, at least, successful!
One impulse buy was shampoo and conditioner- I didn’t need it, but the kind I like was on crazy sale so I grabbed liters. Spending money on shampoo is no fun, so I embrace the sales!!
Then, while on my way to the area of the store that had the aforementioned YouTuber recommendation (more on that later), I noticed these new Powder Puff lippies from NYX:
Intrigued, I swatched the shade “Moody” on my hand and then thought it was dumb to be buying (more) lip stuff so I moved on. But then I couldn’t stop looking at it. It was a perfect dusty mauvey rose and it wasn’t quite drying down but was still sort of matte. So I went back to the display and snatched one up. I have to say, this has been a nice daily wear lip color! The formula is neat- it’s like a fluffy mousse? It goes on with a spongy, non-precise applicator (the “puff” I guess!) Wear-wise, I would compare it to a matte cream, since it doesn’t dry down or claim to be long-wear or transfer-proof, but it does stain a bit and fade down nicely as the day goes on. I find a little chapstick primer helps prevent any drying, which it wants to do a little, or maybe that was just because it was -20 degrees last week. Anyway, this isn’t my favorite favorite, but it’s fun and easy and I’ve been reaching for it on the regular.
Ok- this is what I actually went in for in the first place- The Models Own Brow Tattoo Kit:
I was not in the market for a new brow product, but I watched this video from Tati and was convinced that I needed to see it for myself! So this is a cushion product that applies wet (“wet”) then dries down to a powder finish. Well, I have to tell you, this is straight wizardry in a $10 compact. It applies really easily- it doesn’t feel wet, or even like anything, but something is happening when the brush touches your brows. They don’t look “done” or “drawn” or anything- just like I waved some magical wand over my eyebrows and became 10 years younger. Maybe more! I got hit on at a bar by a 26 year old who thought I was “his age” recently, and I credit the brows! I’m a little worried that it will dry out quickly, but I’m hoping to get at least a good month out of it.
xo
What new things are you excited about these days? Tell us in the comments! As usual I bought this all with my own money and scored my own Ulta points which are the best because they turn into actual money. Yay!
