My Ulta 20% off purchases reviewed

Yesterday, I ventured into the west side Ulta to make some returns I’d been sitting on since their 20% off sale. I had been holding out because 1) I was still trying some things 2) I was afraid of holiday crowds 3) I’m a horrible procrastinator.

But I finally got it all together and went to make the return–only to find I was 2 days past the 60 day deadline. They still let me do it, but it was an ordeal. So note to self–and to you–get on those returns!

So what made the cut and what didn’t? Here you go!

NYX Lid Lingerie Eye Tint in Rose Pearl

First off–these are $6.99 without the 20% off–so it’s not a big investment. I just wish I liked it more. I might try other color and see if it’s better but I don’t really like the Rose Pearl and I kinda forgot I even had it until just now.

NYX The Skinny Mascara

Yeah–this is good. I use it on my lower lashes and it’s the right size. And it’s cheap. A good buy.

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Prism Eyeshadow Palette

Sadly, it’s a no for me. It’s definitely better than Subculture but it’s not the miracle that is Modern Renaissance. Again–I’m just not good enough at eye looks or patience enough to figure this palette out. And I certainly don’t have enough time in the morning to blend out the shadows in the way this formula requires. The other big issue is I got the palette for the green shades. I’m super into green right now. And they are the hardest to work with in the bunch. But don’t feel too bad for me–I have the Anastasia Beverly Hills single in Emerald and I love it. So I returned the palette and I’m just going to stick with the singles for a while.

Mario Badescu, Mask & Mist Duo

While the rose mist is still the holy grail, I’ve been really into this Cucumber and Green Tea version. And who doesn’t love masks! So I grabbed this duo which was $21 without the discount. I’d never tried any of the products in the line aside from the spritz and this mask doesn’t really inspire me to run out and try anything else. It’s okay. But I like the super cheap Studio 35 Mint Julep Mask at Walgreens over this one.

Bare Minerals, Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in Vanilla 02

Pamela has been raving about this tinted moisturizer forever so I decided to finally give it a try. (it was her 2017 favorite tinted moisturizer, ICYMI.) And per usual–she’s right! I love it. I’ve been putting on my new Kora oil first for a little extra hydration and then I put this on just using my fingers. I love when I don’t have to grab tools, so it’s super convenient, has a really nice range of colors and feels great on your skin. A new fave, for sure!

Bare Minerals, Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil

I love this stuff. This was a restock for me. It is the BEST at getting off makeup and doesn’t feel at all heavy or oily after you wash it off. I bought it for the first time last year during the 20% sale so it really lasted a long time. I’m almost out so I got it now–also so I would be eligible for a free 5 piece Bare Minerals gift which I haven’t tried any of yet–and I’m not even sure where it is… (i really need to follow jess’ lead and do a complete overhaul of my product situation.)

Clinique, Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate

I didn’t hate this, but I didn’t love it either, so it went back. I gave it a shot at night–where it wasn’t hydrating enough–and during the day–where it was too sticky and felt weird. So I couldn’t really figure out a time to use it nor a reason to keep it. And at $39 full price, it should be better than it was.

Lorac Unzipped Desert Sunset Palette

I felt like this was kind of a gamble, but I really like it a lot! It’s easy to use and the colors work on their own really nicely or in a look. The only downside is there is no mirror in the palette which there really should be for the price–$42 without the discount–but it’s also a very light palette that works great for travel. So I’m super happy with this and I’m really glad I went for it!

Go Nude or Make A Statement 8 Pc Collection of Mini Gen Nude Radiant and Mini Statement Luxe

Okay–so I would’ve returned this but I’m missing one of the little guys and couldn’t. BUT! With that said–this collection is now on sale for $18 PLUS there’s a sale on sale items! So for that–I would totally recommend it. I was just looking for some new nudes and the nudes in this bunch don’t really work for me. But there are enough good shades in here to make it a value with the new price.

There you have it–my final thoughts on these Ulta 20% purchases. How are you liking the things you picked up during the 20% sales? Do you have some gift cards burning a hole in your pocket? Whatcha looking to get? Let me know in the comments below!
