What I’ve purchased through Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty so far…

Three Ulta related posts in a row! Sheesh! But I kinda love this sale–I think its marketing genius–and it gets me looking at stuff I forgot about or stuff I’ve wanted to try or stuff I never knew existed.

So I’ve been taking full advantage of the promotion and pick up a bunch of things.

Again–you can ALWAYS return things at any retailer: Ulta, Sephora, Walgreens–so if you don’t like it, take it back.

While I haven’t’ tried everything I’ve purchased, so far there haven’t been any big misses that I know will be returned.

So here’s what I’ve purchased and my initial thoughts on them.

Mario Badescu: last Saturday was the 25% off Mario day, so I stocked up on a few things and picked up a few things to try.

My sister, Holly has been on this brand for year’s , so she gave me the heads up on the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser and Collagen Moisturizer SPF 15. I found this anti-aging kit that had both and also included the Glycolic Acid Toner, Super Collagen Mask  and a sample of the Glycolic Eye Cream. I figured for just over $20, this set was worth a try. I haven’t cracked it open–but I’ll let you know when I do!

Speaking of the Super Collagen Mask, I also bought that–yes–even though it was in the kit. Ugh. I was going fast and trying to not go too crazy buying things and then Matt came into the store to pick me up and I panicked, put a bunch of things back, but then bought this twice, basically. (ugh,is there anything more shaming than a panic buy?!) The good news–I love it! I tried it on Sunday night after my Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy Mask which is more of a detoxing mask. (and one I really like!)

My skin was just kinda unhappy, so I thought a detox was a good idea. But I was also super excited to give this mask a try because I’ve heard amazing things about it–so I did both–and it is so warranted! The Super Collagen Mask is wonderfully moisturizing and my skin felt a million times better after using it. Even on Monday night after showering–I noticed my skin still looked really good! So I’m definitely not mad to have a back up on hand because I think I’m gonna blow through this pretty quickly. I love it!

Of course, I grabbed the unicorn mist pack, AKA  Spritz. Mist. Glow. Set.  This is such a great deal, even if it’s not still on sale, so I recommend grabbing it online. Not all stores have them in stock. I cleaned out the east side Ulta when I got mine.

Finally, I grabbed this Buffering Lotion. Holly warned me the Drying Lotion I was planning to get would be too harsh for me, so I tried this.  Perhaps this is a TMI, but I had this weird pimple ON MY EAR! Super weird and annoying. So I picked this up and it did seem to help bring the gunk to the surface and it’s gone now, thank goodness.

Milani Cosmetics: Ulta now carries Milani!!! I”m so excited about this! Ever since NYX Cosmetics came to Walgreens, Milani has been out and I really like everything I’ve tried from them, especially their metallic liquid lips. So I was bummed I couldn’t find them anywhere. But now I can! So I grabbed both over their setting sprays–the Make it Last and the Make it Dewy. As much as I LOVE the Marios, they aren’t great at making your makeup stay and I don’t feel they give a dewy finish. So I totally justified getting both of these to try. So far, I’ve only used the dewy one, and I really like it. It definitely does give a dewy look but it doesn’t feel sticky or oily.

Essence: I knew I was gonna get another one of the Water Kiss Glossy Lip Colour–I went with Mermaid Girl–but I was also in the market for a cruelty-free mascara and Anjee’s recommended the Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara with the GREEN lettering! So I used the BOGO50 on that. I haven’t tried it yet since I have some other mascaras I’m working through, but I’m excited to check it out! Thanks, Anjee! And of course, I’m super excited with the lip! I can’t wait until summer–for a million reasons–but also to wear these on the regular!

Earth Therapeutics: Yeah–this was kind of an impulse pick up because I walked passed the display on my way to the check out and then grabbed two of these Hydrogel Under-Eye Recovery Patch in Tea Tree and Rose on a BOGO50. But it’s okay–I use under-eye patches a lot.

Urban Decay:  I had to find the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Trio in a weird kiosk with special gift packs of things–it wasn’t by the other UD stuff–but I was glad I saw it so I picked it up.  It comes with Perversion–it’s blackest black liner, Rockstar, which is a weird dark brown purple (it says it has shimmer but I didn’t really notice it,) and Midnight Cowboy, which is is strange name for a basically goldish pale liner. I’ve tried all but the Midnight Cowboy and I like them both.

Becca: As I mentioned on Facebook, I couldn’t decide and grabbed both the Backlight Priming Filter AND the First Light Priming Filter. Another thank you to Anjee for giving me a sample of the Backlight! I had already tried the First Light AKA the purple one and really liked it. It’s very good when you need to brighten your skin but not have a glow. I’ve been using the First Light and then spraying the Make it Dewy for a really nice effect. The Backlight is definitely a glow situation. I’m still getting used to it and I think I’ll love it in the summer, but for now, I’m still figuring out how I feel about such a serious glow because it is definitely a lit from within situation. I think it freaked me out that I used the Backlight with the dewy spray, and it was too much glow. Sorry, Pamela! But since I’ve used it without the spray, it’s growing on me.

SheaMoisture: I put out the call in my last post about needing new body wash and looking for recommendations. Well, my sister, Holly came through again! She suggested both the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Body Wash and the 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Body Wash. With a BOGO50–I grabbed them both. I’ve only tried the honey one–and OH MY GOODNESS!!–where have you been all my life?!!!! It is insanely moisturizing and I’m obsessed with the scent. It’s warm but not sweet. It’s my new favorite thing and I can’t break out the other one because I’m too into this one!

So honestly–I feel like high-fiving myself for my pick-ups! I really like what I’ve snagged in the sale and I don’t feel bad about missing things like the UD eye shadow singles or anything with a free gift with purchase. I grabbed things I really wanted and didn’t go insane with stuff I won’t use. The promotion runs through the weekend and I would also TOTALLY recommend you get to Ulta tomorrow and get that Dermalogica, Daily Microfoliant–it is a game changer, for real!

Have you snagged anything worth crowing about? Would you like an event to share samples or other things you have laying around and not using? Have you tried any of these items? Share your thoughts below!

Yup. My Money. My Problem.
