One Year Later–Happy Anniversary To Us!!

Time sure does fly when you’re having fun! It’s hard to believe the earth has traveled around the sun one whole time since we launched Everything and Nothings!

We are grateful to have so many people who want to talk about the same things we do and share your experiences in this thing called life with us.

Looking back at the things we shared, we thought we’d go back and each pick two things that a year later–we are still loving!

Lyn:

If I could only have one eye shadow palette to get me through all seasons, it would be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette.

Looking at the colors, it can seem intimidating, but I promise it creates the most inspired looks with minimal effort. I loved it in winter and I’m still loving it now!

I’ve never been into bronzer. I always feel it looks dirty on me and definitely not natural. But this spring, I took the plunge and finally purchased the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer. It has changed my morning routine completely! Now that it’s summer, I tend to go with a minimal makeup look anyway. But an average day is now just brows, mascara, tinted moisturizer, lip color AND BRONZER! This formula is so smooth, it applies easily and works magic on fair skin. It’s a little pricey for a drugstore product, but it is so worth it. I am beyond in love with it and can’t believe it took me so long to pick one up!

Pamela:

For me it’s been all Glossier all the time this year (I even bought one of their sweatshirts.) My favorites remain the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and the Cloud paints. Especially the Cloud Paints – they are so natural and pretty. Now that it’s summer my make up routine is very basically Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50, Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer SPF 30, Glossier Haloscope in one or all of the 3 different shades, a little Cloud Paint and some bronzer, Boy Brow and mascara – and done! And I still reach for the Milky Jelly Cleanser to take it all off at the end of the day. Simple, short and sweet. If you haven’t tried any Glossier products yet, you are missing out!

Jess:

Last year definitely had some hits and misses, but a few new things have crept their way into “holy grail” status in my bathroom:

Last year seemed to be all about the liquid lip, and while I found a few that were ok (and a lot that were not!), every single one reminded me that I just really prefer Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in the comfort matte formula all day, every day. They are, in my opinion, PERFECTION. What makes them so great? For one, the pigmentation is ridiculous- one good swipe is all you need. If you layer a lip liner underneath, you can go all day without much of a touch up, even if you eat a pizza. They are long lasting without being drying, and when it does fade or break down, it just kind of fades away without getting chunky or crumbly. I have several shades, ranging from hot hot pink to barely there nudes to the perfect red, and all of them perform brilliantly. At $17 per bullet, I think it’s a pretty good value- I have some old ones that are still working great!

I am happy to report that I have repurchased American Provenance Natural Deodorant several times now (but not too many- a stick lasts a good couple of months!). I have to admit- this was the surprise of the year! I have always been hopeful- but dubious- of natural deodorants. Let’s just say… as a massage therapist, I have encountered more than one client that swears by “natural” who, ahem, smell a little too natural if you get my meaning. But this stuff is THE BEST, even compared to “regular” deodorants. Sure, you have to kind of warm it against your skin first and smoosh it in a little, but it keeps you very not stinky all day! And now that it’s summer, I can say that confidently. Plus, all the label art was designed by a tattoo artist, so it looks cool in your bathroom.

We sure have enjoyed our little forum to share the things that are making our lives better, things that disappointed us, things that inspire us and things we have on our minds. And we hope that you have enjoyed it, too!

To show our gratitude–we will be giving away a kit of our favorite things we shared on the blog this year (i.e.: the things mentioned in this post!) to one lucky email subscriber! So make sure you are subscribed and we will pick a winner on July 1st! And please share our site with your friends!

Cheers to another year!
